Does Meta Ads actually work for B2B? Here's the proof

"B2B buyers don't scroll Facebook and Instagram - they're busy closing deals, not liking posts." It's one of the most repeated lines in B2B marketing, and it's simply not true. It survives because it's convenient: it lets founders blame the platform instead of the funnel. The reality, backed by what we actually run for B2B SaaS clients, is the opposite - Meta works, and it often works better than the "serious" B2B channels people default to instead.

Where the myth comes from

The myth isn't baseless - it comes from watching Meta ads fail for B2B, over and over. But look closely at those failures and a pattern shows up every time: a single static ad, a generic "book a demo" ask, sent straight to a homepage, run exactly the way an e-commerce campaign would be run. When that setup fails - and it always does - the conclusion people reach is "the platform doesn't work," instead of "the approach was wrong." We wrote about this exact pattern in our full-funnel Meta Ads strategy for SaaS: SaaS isn't an impulse purchase, and a single hard-sell ad was never going to close a considered B2B buyer.

The reality: decision-makers are on Meta too

Here's the part the myth ignores: every founder, head of ops, and marketing lead you're trying to reach still has Facebook and Instagram on their phone, and still opens them during the workday. Being a decision-maker doesn't switch off their behavior as a consumer of content - it just means the ad has to speak to them as a professional with a real problem, not as an impulse shopper. The audience was never missing. What's usually missing is a funnel built for how a B2B buyer actually decides.

The proof: real B2B SaaS results

This isn't theoretical for us - it's the day-to-day of running these accounts. Two examples from clients we've worked with directly:

GenPage
$10 per qualified sign-up
Shape / ProductAI
$25 per qualified B2B lead

Those numbers came from B2B SaaS products, sold to professional buyers, acquired through Meta - not consumer products sold on impulse. If the myth were true, these accounts simply couldn't exist at these costs. They do, because the approach behind them was built for a considered purchase, not copied from a discount ad template.

Why it actually works for B2B

A few things make Meta genuinely well-suited to B2B once it's set up correctly:

How we make it work

The setup that turns Meta into a real B2B channel isn't complicated, but it is deliberate: pick the right funnel for the price point (demo-and-SDR above roughly $130/month, direct sign-up below it - covered in our funnels breakdown), build creative for every stage instead of one hard ask, retarget relentlessly, and read the account for what it's telling you about the buyer. Skip any one of those and the "myth" becomes true for your account specifically - not because of the platform, but because of the setup.

The platform was never the problem. Treating a considered B2B buyer like an impulse shopper was.
The bottom line

Meta Ads works for B2B - including B2B SaaS - when it's run like a B2B channel: full-funnel creative, real retargeting, and a funnel matched to a considered buyer. The $10 sign-ups and $25 qualified leads above aren't exceptions to the myth; they're what happens once you stop believing it.
